Barry is the Joint MD & Creative Director of the Format Factory.
His Media experience spans Presenter to Reporter, Runner to Researcher, Assistant Producer to Producer, Director to Series Producer and all roads leading to Executive Producer. He has produced for all of the UK major networks as well as American and European broadcasters. He has been a Development Executive, a Head of Production, a Head of Programmes for a Chinese Television Channel, a Deputy Head of Department, a Commissioning Editor and a Head of Everything. He has been independent and in-house and the architect and follower of his own rules.
The Format Factory & Free@Last TV are the houses he built with some brilliant creative people.
Barry Ryan - Joint MD, Creative Director
David is the Joint MD & Creative Director of the Format Factory.
Arriving via the BFI and an MA in Cinema & Television from the University of Amsterdam, David set up a DAC for Harringay Arts Council and was the Head of Development at Straight TV where he invented returnable series and documentaries for a range of broadcasters including Channel 4, 4Music, ITV1, MTV and Channel 5. At Free@Last TV he produced a range of factual shows for Channels including Play UK, Five, MTV, ITV1, ITV3 and many others. Since 2012 he has been Producer of flagship comedy-drama Agatha Raisin.
